Had a half day today. Yea. Yesterday, at school, this guys' left eye was singed. He told me he had a potato launcher, and to use it, it needs fire. When the trigger didn't work, he looked inside it, and kept pressing the trigger. Guess what happened to his eye? Totally burned. His bottem eyelashes were burnt off, so now it looks like he's wearing mascara. Poor guy.
Anyway, googleing my name now, 'cause I'm SO bored. ( My 'darkwingedwolf13' name, not my real ) Scary. It actually shows results when I google my name. Like, for web, I get the links to my blog. Okay, so, um...yeah.
Oh, again, remember how I mentioned how I'm writing a story? Here's the first chapter...
Chapter 1
I sat at my desk, tapping my pencil annoyingly against my notebook. Mr. Tang sure knew how to make the last day of school before spring break a drag. He had assigned us to read three chapters in ‘How to Kill a Mocking Bird’, and I had finished the book a week ago. Not really because I wanted to read ahead, but because I figured I might as well. I yawned, and started to rest my head down on my books, but snapped into attention when I heard a whisper behind me. “Pass this on to Iris.” The voice said, and I gave a quick nod, sticking out my hand behind my back. A small piece of paper was placed into my hand, and I brought it forward. Iris and I had been friend since kindergarten, had been through thick and thin together, and had told each other everything. That was two years ago, before middle school started.
Now, she was little miss popular, and I was a no body. I hated her guts, for being so perfect, so stuck up, and for treating me like dirt, like I didn’t even exist, like those last five plus years had been nothing. They hadn’t been ‘nothing’ to me…
I shifted in my seat. To read the letter, to not read the letter, that was the question. I remembered how last year she had invited me to her birthday party, saying it was a costume party. What a fool I had been, going as a fairy with a short dress and everything, when it turned out to be a funeral. That little demon had sent me the wrong address! And when I finally found the real location, it was nothing like a costume party.
I had never forgiven her for that, so my decision to open the folded piece of paper or not was quickly answered. I quickly unfolded the piece of paper and peered down at the writing. It said this:
Dear Iris,
Sorry, man, but I don’t want to be around such a snob like you. You’re too full of yourself, and boss me around. Again, I’m sorry, but I’m breaking up with you.
~Austin
I double-checked the handwriting. It was Austins’. I grinned terribly. Austin, the most popular boy in school, was breaking up with Iris. She would be super pissed, and here’s why: Because he had broken up with her, before she could break up with him. She, of course, would tell the school newspaper different, but I would be able to tell them the truth, making her life miserable. All that was missing to make this moment perfect was for me to give an evil laugh, but I didn’t dare. Especially in English class, where Mr. Tang would put you in detention so fast, it’d make your head spin.
I gladly tapped Iris on the shoulder, who was in front of me. “For you,” I said, and she turned around slowly and took the paper from my hands. I leaned forward a bit so I could get a good look at her expression. She read the writing, then paused, and read it again, and again, and then, again. Apparently, it couldn’t really sink in that well for her, because she let out a blood-curdling scream and turned around to look at Austin, who was two seats behind me. Mr. Tang’s eyes burst open wide and looked around to see where the noise had come from. “What?!?” Iris shrieked, standing up. ‘Not now’, I saw Austin mouth, and Iris quickly shook her head. “No,” she said, “We’re going to talk about this, right here, right now.” Mr. Tang glared at Iris. “Miss Bogena, please take your seat, before I have to write you detention.” He said politely, but Iris was ignoring him. I leaned back in my chair a bit, folding my hands into my stomach. All I needed now was some popcorn, and this would be an amazing break-up.
“You are not breaking up with me!” Iris snapped, and then I said something I completely regret. “Can't stand the heat, get outta the kitchen.” I mumble, and she snaps her head in my direction. “You!” she growled in a voice that made me sink in my chair. “You faked the letter, just so you could see how I would react, didn’t you?” I let out a snort. “I wish, but I didn’t think of it.” I said, and now it was her turn to let out a snort. “Liar!” she screamed, and I jumped to my feet. “Oh yeah?” I asked. “Well guess what? That’s not my handwriting! It’s Austins’!” “Iris,” Austin moaned, ruffling his odd colored hair, “It’s my handwriting, leave her alone.”
Iris stared in awe, probably 1. Because her ‘ex’ boyfriend had just sided with a girl she hated, and 2. She had made a complete fool of herself. The bell rung, and I grabbed my stuff and bolted to the door. Mr. Tang had pulled Iris aside, probably to give her a detention for disrupting class. I caught up with Austin and grabbed his shoulder. He slowly turned around to see me, and the look on his face made me quickly take my hand off his shoulder. He looked like crap. Plus, pretty angry. Either way, I said this : “Hey, Austin? Um, thanks for standing up for me. I didn’t know what I would’ve down if it hadn’t been for you. And, um, sorry about you and Iris…you know…” He let out a sigh. “Yeah, sure, no problem…uh, Crow?” I quickly nodded. “Yeah,” I said, “It’s Crow. Crow Kantono.” He gave a little smile and nod, then left to go to his locker.
I went over to my locker and was about to spin the lock when a hand appeared on my shoulder. I looked at the hand. Its nails were painted hot pink, with little flower stickers on them, and three rings, one on the index, the middle, and the ring finger. I gave a little sniff and tried to place ,who, in this whole school, smelled like fresh roses. It didn’t take very long for me to guess. “Iris…” I moaned, and the owner of the hand said. “Turn around, Kantono.” I spun around ,and indeed, it was Iris. “What do you want, demon?” I asked the devil herself, crossing my arms over my chest. Something told me I shouldn’t have said that, especially when I saw Iris was with her whole prep squad. “What. The. Hell?” She asked, pushing me so hard I slammed into my locker. She gave me a long glare. “What’s wrong with you, birdie girl? Why can’t you just ‘play along’, and say that you wrote that note?” I snorted, and pulled her hand off my shoulder. “Please, you’re just pissy with me ‘cause Austin broke up with you, and not the other way around.” Some of the girls in Iris’s little group gave gasps and giggles. Iris whipped her head around at them, and they quickly stopped. She turned back to me, glaring at my emerald eyes.
“Squad!” Iris barked, and her so-called friends snapped into attention. “Move out!” She stepped away from me and stood next to me for a moment. “You’re a bitch, bird girl.” She whispered into my ear, and then gave me a hard shoulder bump. “Takes one to know one.” I hissed, grabbing my messenger bag and books before I let her have a chance to have that comment sink in.
I burst through the school doors, hoping that she wasn’t bolting after me. This is what I get for not sending in my permission slip to be able to go with my dad and brothers for ‘Take Your Child to Work’ day. I suckled. I felt so stupid for forgetting yet another way to get out of school. My legs continued to pound against the sidewalk, as I tried to put as much distance between the school, Iris, and me.
So, yeah, that's the first chapter. I have 30 so far. If anyone thinks up a title, please do share. *pokes comment section* Thanks.
